The Embassy SF

The Embassy SF

The Embassy SF is our project designed to prototype a new approach to housing and generative community building. It combines long-term and short-term accommodations in a large communal home, such that income from guest accommodations offsets living costs for residents, and supports activities and events undertaken at the house.

The project seeks to blur the line between residents and guests, creating an open and inclusive culture that allows modern nomads and creatives to travel and while always feeling “at home.” It also seeks to provide a new type of “3rd space” that is managed and programmed by residents and the broader community, in order to support their projects and goals. The model, an early prototype of the Integrated Use operating concept, has proved to be financially sustainable, often with more demand for accommodations and housing than can be met at this location.
